Translate to Notion is a browser extension that translates text you select and
saves words you choose into your own Notion workspace. It is built so that we
handle as little of your data as technically possible.
What the extension does with your data
- Text you select on a webpage is translated on your device using
Chrome’s built-in translation engine. Selected text is not sent to our
servers — we don’t have servers that receive it.
- When you click “Save to Notion”, the selected word, its translation, the
surrounding sentence, and the page’s title and URL are sent directly from
your browser to Notion’s API, into a database in your own Notion
workspace. We never see, store, or process this content.
- Your Notion access token (obtained when you connect your Notion account,
or pasted manually) is stored locally in your browser’s extension storage.
It is used only to write to and read from the Notion pages you explicitly
shared with the extension.
- Language preferences and settings are stored in your browser’s extension
storage (synced by Chrome across your own devices if you use Chrome sync).
What we process on our side
- Notion sign-in (OAuth): when you click “Connect with Notion”, a one-time
authorization code is exchanged for your access token through our small
token-exchange service. This service holds no database, stores nothing, and
logs no tokens — it forwards the exchange to Notion and returns the result to
your browser.
- License validation (paid version): if you activate a Pro license, the
license key is checked against our payment provider (Lemon Squeezy) to
confirm it is valid. Purchases themselves are handled entirely by Lemon
Squeezy as merchant of record; we never see your payment details.
What we do NOT do
- No analytics, tracking, or telemetry of any kind.
- No reading of your browsing history.
- No collection of personal information.
- No selling or sharing of any data with third parties.
- No ads.
